Changes to my Study Programme
Here we go,
again ! I love the topic of this post because I hate so many things in my study
programme. First, the curriculum… I
study physical anthropology, and we have subjects who don't have any conexion, they don't
follow a logic time. For example we have histology and physiology in different semesters, but we don’t
understand why it’s important the study in living people. This types of
subjects are very specialized and present a difficulty like to medical
students. In fasco we need to complete
credits and our program has too many, for example, laboratories have 9 credits
and we need approximately 9 hours extra to study outside hours class.
Also we have
like six non relevant subjects, like general training courses and them take
away valuable time. Second, the teaching methods aren’t very pedagocical. We
have “sacred cows” and their don’t are very technological, so many times what
they say is a law and they do not recognize that things may have changed over
the years. They say very sexist things in complete courses of women, they have
a real problem with that!
We have good
teachers too, but they have part-time contracts, and they can’t help us with
theses for example´. Another problem that we have is the lack of basics implements,
like gloves, soap in the laboratories, aprons, etc. We do not have quick access
to the use of bioanthropological collections, for example to practice or study.
We try changes
this situation, but it's difficult because Physical anthropology don't make
money like archaeology. Soon I will graduate and nothing changed in four years L !
